Political Comedy Tail! Spin!, With Rachel Dratch, Sean Dugan and Mo Rocca, Set for FringeNYC
20 Jul 2012
Tail! Spin!, a new political comedy starring Rachel Dratch, Sean Dugan and Mo Rocca, will premiere as part of the 2012 New York International Fringe Festival in August.
Penned by NPR "Weekend Edition" contributor Mario Correa, Tail! Spin! will play Aug. 11-16 at the Kraine Theatre.
The show promises "a hilarious and heartbreaking verbatim reenactment of the preposterous sex scandals that brought down former South Carolina Governor Mark Sanford, former U.S. Congressman Anthony Wiener of New York, former U.S. Congressman Mark Foley of Florida, and former U.S. Senator Larry Craig of Idaho..."
Correa's script is solely comprised of the actual words of the various politicians, culled from e-mails, speeches, tweets and more.
Tony Award nominee Dan Knechtges (Lysistrata Jones) will direct the ast featuring Dratch ("SNL"), Dugan ("Smash") and Rocca ("The Daily Show"), with others to be announced shortly.
Holed up in a seedy motel on the edge of the Mojave Desert, two former lovers unpack the deep secrets and dark desires of their tangled relationship, passionately tearing each other apart. Led by director Daniel Aukin (Back Back Back at MTC, 4,000 Miles), Tony winner Nina Arianda (Venus in Fur at MTC, Born Yesterday) and Sam Rockwell (A Behanding in Spokane, The Way Way Back) bring an explosive intensity to Sam Shepard’s (Buried Child, True West) landmark myth of the new Wild West.
