Polk & Company, a New P.R. Firm Handling Roundabout and More, Opens in NYC
14 Jan 2013
Matt Polk, the theatrical press agent who has worked on high-profile stage productions as part of the team at Boneau/Bryan-Brown for the past 15 years, opens his own shop — Polk & Company — on Jan. 14. The new public relations and media strategies office will handle Roundabout Theatre Company as a client.
The not-for-profit Roundabout, which presents Broadway and Off-Broadway productions, was Polk's beat at BBB, where Jessica Johnson was a fellow publicist. Johnson also moves to Polk & Company.
Polk began working on Disney's The Lion King during its first year and went on to create, execute and manage publicity campaigns for a wide range of corporate, commercial and not-for profit productions and clients including Disney, DreamWorks, Roundabout Theatre Company, The Heiress and Once. He has also created many publicity campaigns for celebrities, producers, cultural institutions, film/television projects and philanthropic causes.
Polk said in a statement, "I am eternally grateful to Chris Boneau and Adrian Bryan-Brown, who have been my mentors for the last 15 years. I have learned from the most respected and accomplished experts in the business. I made the decision to leave my professional family in order to grow, and to continue to challenge myself and further my personal commitment to my current and future clients."
