Grammy Award-nominated pop singer Taylor Dayne, who made her Broadway debut in the Tony-winning musical Aida, stars as Grizabella in the Andrew Lloyd Webber musical Cats, which begins performances Aug. 21 at the Merry-Go-Round Playhouse as part of the Finger Lakes Musical Theatre Festival.

Jacob Brent, the only cast member to appear in the Broadway, London and film versions of Cats, directs and choreographs the musical that runs through Sept. 11.

The cast also features Cameron Bartell, Sarah Bumgarner, Andrew DiConcetto, Jessica Dillan, Aubrey Elson, KC Fredericks, Abigail Gatlin, Erica Leigh Hansen, Justin Henry, Lucy Horton, Amanda LaMotte, Patrick Mellen, Emily Palmquist, Will Porter, Ethan Saviet, Christopher E. Sidoli, Adam Ryan Tackett, Jonathan Tylicki, Josh Walden and Chaz Wolcott.

Dayne made her Broadway debut as Amneris in Elton John and Tim Rice's Tony-winning musical Aida. She is known for her hit singles "Tell It To My Heart," "Don't Rush Me" and "Love Will Lead You Back."

Based on T.S. Eliot's "Old Possum’s Book of Practical Cats," the musical became an international phenomenon and has continuously toured the U.S. for 30 years in various union and non-union productions. In 1991 Cats became the longest-running continuous tour in U.S. history. Cats produced the stand-out single "Memory."

Cats opened on Broadway at the Winter Garden Theatre Oct. 7, 1982, where it ran for 7,485 performances before closing Sept. 10, 2000. It held the title of Broadway's longest-running musical, but was surpassed by Lloyd Webber's other hit, The Phantom of the Opera, which currently holds the title. Cats won seven Tony Awards including Best Musical, Best Book of a Musical, Best Lighting and Best Costumes.
