Satellites Orbit Brooklyn in Diana Son's New Play, Opening June 18

Satellites, the new play by Diana Son, whose Stop Kiss was previously embraced at the Public, opens at the same theatre June 18. Previews began on May 30. Sandra Oh of "Grey's Anatomy" stars. The Brooklyn-set play, directed by Michael Greif, also features Johanna Day (Tony Award nominee for Proof), Ron Cephas Jones (Public's Richard III), Satya Lee (Off-Broadway's Tokyo Can Can 2) and Clarke Thorell (Hairspray). Satellites was commissioned by The Public Theater. In 2004, it was presented in "New Work Now!," The Public's nationally recognized annual series that showcases new work from emerging and established artists. The world premiere is part of The Public's 50th anniversary season. The creative team includes scenic designer Mark Wendland, costume designer Miranda Hoffman, lighting designer Kenneth Posner, sound designer Walter Trarbach and Tony Smolenski IV, and original music by Michael Friedman. Satellites will play Tuesday at 7 PM, Wednesday through Saturday at 8 PM, Saturday and Sunday at 2 PM and Sunday at 7 PM. There will be no performance 2 PM June 3. There will be post-show discussions on June 7 and June 27.
