Evita CD Signing — With Roger, Quast and Rawle — Held Aug. 16
By Andrew Gans
On Aug. 16 Dress Circle, the London-based show biz shop that caters to musical theatre fans, will host a CD signing for the new cast recording of the 2006 London revival of Evita.
The recording of the Andrew Lloyd Webber-Tim Rice musical features 19 tracks, including "You Must Love Me," which was penned for the motion picture of Evita, which starred Madonna as the famed wife of the Argentine dictator. The complete track listing follows. Evita officially opened at London's Adelphi Theatre June 21. Directed by Michael Grandage with choreography by Rob Ashford, the brand-new staging of the award-winning musical marks the first major West End revival since the show debuted at the Prince Edward Theatre in 1978. That production, which was directed by Hal Prince, made a star out of its leading lady, Elaine Paige. Similarly, the eventual Broadway debut — in 1979 at the Broadway Theatre — brought fame and a Tony Award to its Evita, Patti LuPone, now back on Broadway in the acclaimed revival of Sweeney Todd. Dress Circle is located in London's West End at 57/59 Monmouth Street. For more information visit www.dresscircle.co.uk. |
