Hall's 50th Anniversary Godot to Receive London Transfer
By John Nathan
Director Peter Hall's 50th anniversary production of Samuel Beckett's Waiting for Godot will receive its London premiere at the New Ambassadors Theatre Oct. 9. Previews begin Oct. 3. The play was first seen in Paris 1953, but it was Hall who took it to London's Arts Theatre in 1955 where it received it English language world premiere. Hall, who went on to establish the Royal Shakespeare Company, had earlier returned to the piece with his 1997 Old Vic production. This latest variation of the work fetures James Laurenson as Vladimir, Alan Dobie as Estragon, Richard Dormer as Lucky and Terence Rigby as Pozzo. |
