Gilgamesh and Paradise Lost Musical Play in New 3-World-Premiere Season of Theatre @ Boston Court

California's Theatre @ Boston Court has announced its upcoming 2007 season, which will include the world premieres of Gilgamesh, Bleed Rail and the musical Paradise Lost: Shadows and Wings.

"An important part of our mission is to develop and produce new works, so we're thrilled to be presenting such wonderful and diverse premieres by these exciting and widely respected artists," said co-artistic director Michael Michetti. Jessica Kubzansky, also co-artistic director, concurs: "It is especially rewarding to know that three of the four plays in our season were developed as part of our second annual reading series, Sixpack, this past spring, further demonstrating our dedication to playwrights and new play development and production."

The new season (subject to change) will line up as follows:

Gilgamesh (opens Feb. 24, 2007)
Stephen Sachs adapts and directs the world premiere of Stephen Mitchell's new take on "the mythical journey of the warrior hero-king and his friend Enkidu, a naked wild man who has been civilized through the erotic arts of a sexual priestess."

Bleed Rail(May 12)
Kubzansky stages the Mickey Birnbaum work about "one man's desperate attempts to keep his slaughterhouse job, his girl, and his sanity."

Paradise Lost: Shadows and Wings (July 28)
Michetti directs the musical tale of "one angel who followed her heart, desperately trying to return home against impossible odds." Eric Whitacre provides music and book; lyrics are by Whitacre and David Noroña.

Dark Play or Stories for Boys (Oct. 13) Michetti also stages the west coast debut of Carlos Murillo's work where "a young boy's fictitious Internet identity starts out as a harmless fiction, but once his virtual relationship steps into the realm of real space... spirals out of control with catastrophic consequences."
