Hunchback of Notre Dame Musical By Styx Front-Man to Play Chicago's Bailiwick
By Adam Hetrick
Former Styx band member Dennis DeYoung — known for writing such soaring pop ballads and hits as "Lady," "Come Sail Away" and "Mr. Roboto" — now sets his sights on the legit stage. Bailwick's press notes state, "This classic love triangle between the gypsy Esmeralda, the priest Frollo, and the deformed bell-ringer Quasimodo is a perfect match for the theatrical sensibility of rock legend Dennis DeYoung." As part of its season, Bailiwick will also present Zanna, Don't! (Sept. 26–Nov. 4), the recent Off-Broadway musical Bare (Dec. 7– Jan. 27, 2008) and the Chicago premiere of A Man of No Importance (March 13–April 20). DeYoung's The Hunchback of Notre Dame will cap off the season. For tickets and further information visit www.bailiwick.org or call (773) 883-1090. The Bailiwick Repertory Theatre is located at 1229 W. Belmont Avenue in Chicago, IL. |
