Hunchback of Notre Dame Musical By Styx Front-Man to Play Chicago's Bailiwick

Former Styx band member Dennis DeYoung — known for writing such soaring pop ballads and hits as "Lady," "Come Sail Away" and "Mr. Roboto" — now sets his sights on the legit stage.

DeYoung's new musical, The Hunchback of Notre Dame, will play Chicago's Bailiwick Repertory Theatre May 8–July 6, 2008.

Bailwick's press notes state, "This classic love triangle between the gypsy Esmeralda, the priest Frollo, and the deformed bell-ringer Quasimodo is a perfect match for the theatrical sensibility of rock legend Dennis DeYoung."

As part of its season, Bailiwick will also present Zanna, Don't! (Sept. 26–Nov. 4), the recent Off-Broadway musical Bare (Dec. 7– Jan. 27, 2008) and the Chicago premiere of A Man of No Importance (March 13–April 20). DeYoung's The Hunchback of Notre Dame will cap off the season.
