Buck, Davis, DiSalle and Yarnall Set for Political Idol

Political Idol: A New Musical Revue will begin performances at Off-Broadway's Triad Theatre Oct. 30.

After sold-out runs in Washington, DC, and Chicago, the spoof of the upcoming Primary Elections will officially open at the Triad on Election Day, Nov. 6. Directed by Julie Blanciak, the cast will feature Lara Buck, Enga Davis, Joseph DiSalle and Robert Yarnall.

Based on the parodies of Freedom Toast founder Marc Emory, Political Idol is described as such: "Armed with irreverence, wit, and spot-on impressions of Hillary, Obama, Giuliani, and George W., a quartet of seasoned entertainers turn familiar songs into show-stopping political parodies." Songs titles include "Who'll Stop McCain" (from "Who'll Stop the Rain"), "Guiliani" (from "That's Amore"), "We're Bringin' Ronnie Back" (from "Sexy Back") and "What's Bill Got to Do with It" (from the Tina Turner classic "What's Love Got to Do With It").

The political candidates audition for the role of President at each performance. Audience members will cast their vote for their favorite candidate.

Yarnall is co-author of the book and lyrics with Emory. The creative team also includes Chris Haberl (musical director) and Kat Martin (design and costumes).

Political Idol will play Tuesdays at 9 PM through Dec. 18. The Triad Theater is located at 158 West 72nd Street. There is a two-drink minimum and a $25 cover charge; call (212) 352-3101 for reservations.
