Cavenaugh, Kimmel, Carroll and More Set for Stephen Schwartz Concert

The New York Theatre Barn will present a concert devoted to the music of Stephen Schwartz Nov. 19 at the Duplex Cabaret Theatre. Hans Friedrichs will direct the evening with musical direction by Phillip Kirchman. Spark of Creation is described as "an evening that celebrates where we have come from and the journey we are on together." Stephen Schwartz, a Dramatists Guild council member, composed the scores for Wicked, Godspell, Pippin, The Magic Show, Rags, The Baker's Wife and Children of Eden. He has also written for several film musicals, including the forthcoming "Enchanted" as well as "Pocahontas," "The Hunchback of Notre Dame," "The Prince of Egypt" and the TV musical "Geppetto." His solo CDs of new songs are titled "Reluctant Pilgrim" and "Uncharted Territory." Schwartz is the recipient of three Academy Awards, three Grammy Awards and three Drama Desk Awards.
