Cook, Collins, Cross and Molaskey to Play the Carlyle in 2008

In addition to the previously announced Elaine Stritch, who will offer Elaine Stritch: At Liberty at the Carlyle Jan. 1-19, 2008, a host of other artists have been announced to play the posh nightspot in 2008.

According to the official Café Carlyle website, the line-up for 2008 will include Judy Collins (Jan. 22-March 1), Barbara Cook (March 4-April 12), Christopher Cross (April 15-May 10) and John Pizzarelli and Jessica Molaskey (Sept. 9-Nov. 1).

Most shows play Tuesday-Saturday evenings at 8:45 PM with additional late shows Friday and Saturday nights at 10:45 PM.

When Elaine Stritch returns to the Café Carlyle with her award-winning Elaine Stritch at Liberty, the show will be presented like it was on Broadway — in two acts.

Dinner — with seatings at 6, 6:30 and 7 PM — will precede the first half of the show, which begins at 8 PM. Dessert will be served at intermission, prior to the second act of Elaine Stritch At Liberty . . . At the Carlyle. Performance dates are Jan. 1-19, 2008.

Rob Bowman will conduct a small orchestra.

Elaine Stritch at Liberty — penned by Stritch and John Lahr — traces Stritch's career, which includes roles in Company, The Little Foxes, Bus Stop, A Delicate Balance, Sail Away and Who's Afraid of Virginia Woolf?. Song titles include "The Ladies Who Lunch," "There's No Business Like Show Business," "Broadway Baby," "Zip," "Why Do the Wrong People Travel?" and "I'm Still Here." The show received a Tony Award for Best Special Theatrical Event as well as two Drama Desk Awards — Outstanding Solo Performance for Stritch and Outstanding Book of a Musical for Stritch and John Lahr. George C. Wolfe directed the Broadway run following a sold-out engagement at the Public Theater. The Broadway production at the Neil Simon Theatre played Feb. 6-May 27, 2002.

The actress also received an Emmy Award for the television broadcast of At Liberty.
