Rapp and Golden Will Guest at Joe Iconis Rock and Roll Jamboree Concerts
By Andrew Gans
The Joe Iconis Rock and Roll Jamboree, an evening of music featuring the work of Joe Iconis, will play the Laurie Beechman Theatre Jan. 5, 6, 13 and 19.
Show times are Jan. 5 and 6 at 8 PM, Jan. 13 at 6 PM and Jan. 19 at 9:30 PM. The Joe Iconis Rock and Roll Jamboree, according to press notes, is "a laid-back evening of Iconis tunes, featuring cuts from Joe's recently-orphaned musical The Black Suits, and a bunch of new songs. Songs of hate and hope, suburbia and pornography, cougars and jailbait, dead people and livin' things and more sing-alongs than you can shake a glass of whiskey at." Joe Iconis, who received his MFA from the NYU/Tisch Graduate Musical Theater Writing Program, is a recipient of both the Jonathan Larson Award and the Daryl Roth Award. A production of Iconis' Black Suits, which was scheduled to begin in May at MCC Theatre, was recently canceled. The Laurie Beechman Theater is located inside the West Bank Café at 407 West 42nd Street. There is a $5 cover charge and a $15 food/drink minimum; for reservations call (212) 695-6909. |
