Beebo and Bash'd Win GLAAD Media Awards

Winners of the 19th Annual GLAAD Media Awards were announced March 17 at a ceremony held at New York's Marriott Marquis. The annual awards pay tribute to the best in journalism, film, TV and theatre. This year's nominations included three theatre-related categories: Outstanding New York Theater: Broadway and Off-Broadway; Outstanding New York Theater: Off Off-Broadway; and Outstanding Los Angeles Theater. The winner of the last category will be announced at a separate ceremony in April. Nominees in the theatre-related categories follow (winners names are in bold and are preceded by an asterisk):
New York Theater – Broadway & Off–Broadway
New York Theater – Off–Off Broadway
Los Angeles Theater (Winner of this award will be announced in April). Julie Taymor's "Across the Universe" was nominated in the Film - Wide Release category, but lost the GLAAD Award to "Stardust." Additional awards will be presented in South Florida on April 12 at the Seminole Hard Rock Hotel & Casino, Los Angeles on April 26 at the Kodak Theatre and in San Francisco on May 10 at the San Francisco Marriott. GLAAD is dedicated to promoting fair, accurate, and inclusive representation of individuals and events in all media as a means of eliminating homophobia and discrimination based on gender identity and sexual orientation.
