South Pacific Cast Recording Tops the Billboard Cast Albums Chart

The cast recording of the Lincoln Center Theater revival of Rodgers and Hammerstein's South Pacific, which arrived in stores May 27 on the Masterworks Broadway label, has placed in the top position of the Billboard Cast Albums Chart.

Others in the top five on the Cast Albums Chart include the recordings of Jersey Boys, Wicked, Mamma Mia! and A Catered Affair; the latter was recently released on the PS Classics label.

The single South Pacific CD — featuring three-time Tony nominee Kelli O'Hara as Nellie Forbush and renowned baritone Paulo Szot as Emile de Becque — also charted at #59 on Billboard's Top 200 list and was second in overall internet sales.

David Caddick and David Lai produced the recording of South Pacific. The musical was recently nominated for 11 2008 Tony Award nominations, including Best Revival of a Musical.
