Espinoza, Ephraim, Selman and Rosenberg Off to College: The Musical for NYMF
By Adam Hetrick
A host of young Broadway talent will populate the New York Musical Theatre Festival staging of College: The Musical, which will begin performances Sept. 18 at the American Theater of Actors. Actors who received their "acceptance letters" to College include Brandon Espinoza (Gypsy, Les Miserables), Molly Ephraim (Fiddler on the Roof, Into the Woods), Emily Klein (Parade), Juliana Ashley Hansen (Saved), Casey Ford Alexander (A Little Princess), Damon Gravina (Footloose), Kyra Lorraine Selman (Beauty and the Beast), Eric Petersen (Spelling Bee), Rob Hancock (Mamma Mia!), Marie-France Arcilla, Michael Jennings Mahoney and stage veteran Sandy Rosenberg (Mamma Mia!, The Scarlet Pimpernel). Jeremy Dobrish (Election Day) directs the NYMF production that is described as "a tuneful and honest look at modern campus life… The show explores the ridiculousness and pure fun of life in a dorm room, as well as offering a more serious reflection on growing up and trying to find oneself amid the chaos and insanity of the college experience." The creative team for College includes Mark Hartman (musical direction), Boo Killebrew (choreography), Michael Gottlieb (lighting design), Steven Capone (scenic design), Michael Eisenberg (sound design) and David Kaley (costume design). NYMF membership tickets are currently available. Single tickets go on sale Sept. 1. For more information visit NYMF. * Running Sept. 15–Oct. 5, NYMF 2008 features musicals from around the world, culled from invitations and an open-submission process. Numerous Broadway veterans lend their talents to the new works, many of which have found commercial life Off-Broadway, and for the first time, on Broadway with [title of show]. |
