By Andrew Gans
Singer Sarah Brightman, who created the role of Christine in the London and Broadway productions of The Phantom of the Opera, will perform in concert at New York's Madison Square Garden Nov. 23. The aforementioned tour will bring the singer-actress to Canada, Mexico and the U.S. and features "new and groundbreaking technology, with virtual and holographic stage sets that have never been seen before in any touring concert production," according to press notes. "This innovative stage technology is highly sophisticated and dramatic, creating an otherworldly, ethereal experience: enormous realistic ballrooms will meld into fairytale gardens and then morph into giant fish tanks, right before the audience's very eyes, creating a perfect backdrop for Sarah's glorious voice." Brightman's tour itinerary follows:
Nov. 4 at the Arena Monterrey in Monterrey, Mexico Sarah Brightman, who had a '70s dance hit on the British pop charts, caught the public's attention in Andrew Lloyd Webber's megahit The Phantom of the Opera when she created the role of opera singer Christine Daae. In fact, her duet with tenor Andrea Boccelli, "Time to Say Goodbye," was certified gold in the U.S. and was number one on the Billboard charts for over 30 weeks. Her other solo recordings include "Symphony," "Encore," "Classics," "Fly," "La Luna," "Timeless," "Eden," "Fly 2," "Dive," "As I Came of Age," "Songs That Got Away" and "Sarah Brightman Sings the Music of Andrew Lloyd Webber."
