Toronto's Sound of Music Gets Added Weeks, to March 2009
By Kenneth Jones
The new Toronto production of The Sound of Music has been extended to March 29, 2009, the producers announced Nov. 13. More than 80,000 people have already attended and hundreds of thousands more have already purchased tickets. The Jeremy Sams-directed production is inspired by the recent London hit revival, which cast its Maria though a TV competition series, "How Do You Solve a Problem Like Maria?" The Canadian revival was also cast via TV audition process. Elicia MacKenzie won the part. She plays Maria opposite Broadway's Burke Moses as Capt. Von Trapp. Performances play Tuesday to Saturday at 7:30 PM; Wednesday, Saturday and Sunday at 1:30 PM. Tickets $26-$120.
