London's Spamalot Ends Run at the Palace Theatre Jan. 3

The London production of Monty Python's Spamalot ends its run at the West End's Palace Theatre Jan. 3. The show opened at the Palace in October 2006.

The final company is led by Sanjeev Bhaskar as King Arthur. Best known as the host of the TV series "The Kumars at No. 42," Bhaskar took over the role on June 23, 2008, from Alan Dale, who was preceded in the role by Tim Curry, Simon Russell Beale and Peter Davison. Bhaskar was last seen on the West End stage when he appeared in Yasmina Reza's Art at the Whitehall Theatre. His film appearances include "Scoop," "Anita and Me," "The Guru, "Mystic Masseur" and "Notting Hill." His other television appearances include "Goodness Gracious Me," "Life Isn't All Ha Ha Hee Hee," "Chopra Town," "The Way It Is," "Love Soup" and "Position Impossible."

Also in the cast are Swedish reality TV star Nina Söderquist as The Lady of The Lake, Gerard Carey as Prince Herbert, Ross Dawes as Sir Robin, Jake Nightingale as Sir Lancelot, Andrew Spillett as Patsy, Adam Stafford as Sir Bedevere and Michael Xavier as Sir Dennis Galahad.

The Broadway production of Spamalot is scheduled to close Jan. 11 at the Shubert Theatre.

Spamalot features a book and lyrics by Eric Idle, music by John Du Prez and Eric Idle, direction by Mike Nichols, choreography by Casey Nicholaw and is based on the screenplay of "Monty Python and the Holy Grail" by Monty Python creators Graham Chapman, John Cleese, Terry Gilliam, Eric Idle, Terry Jones and Michael Palin.

The musical tells the tale of King Arthur and his Knights of the Round Table on their quest from God for the Holy Grail — with a short stop in the dazzling Spam-filled land of Camelot.

Spamalot earned the 2005 Tony Award for Best Musical and took home honors for direction (Mike Nichols) and one of its stars (Sara Ramirez).
