By Andrew Gans
The March 14 airing of You're Welcome America. A Final Night with George W Bush, which was broadcast live from Broadway's Cort Theatre, drew large numbers for HBO.
The 7 PM broadcast drew the largest audience for an HBO comedy special in five years. Not since 2004's "Chris Rock: Never Scared" has the cable network enjoyed such high ratings for a comedy show.
Rebroadcasts are scheduled for March 17 at 8 PM on HBO2, March 19 at 9:30 PM on HBO, March 20 at 4:40 AM on HBO, March 21 at 10 PM on HBO Comedy, March 24 at 2:20 AM on HBO, March 26 at 12 AM on HBO, March 28 at 12:35 AM on HBO, March 31 at 3:10 AM on HBO2 and March 31 at 10:30 PM on HBO.
Marty Callner directed the TV broadcast; Adam McKay directed the Broadway run, which ended March 15.
You're Welcome America also features Michael Delaney as Dr. Scott Blumeth, Patrick Ferrell as a Secret Service Operative, Pia Glenn as Condoleezza Rice and Adam Mucci as the Pilot.
"It's time for a change in America, but not without a few parting words from the 43rd President of the United States," according to You're Welcome America press notes. "Don't miss your chance to discover the man behind the myth, the truth behind the lies, and the logic behind the illogical in this limited Broadway event."
The production features scenic design by Eugene Lee, costume design by Tom Broecker, lighting design by Brian MacDevitt, sound design by Peter Fitzgerald and video design by Lisa Cuscuna/Chris Cronin with choreography by Matt Williams and flying effects by Flying by Foy. Charles Means is the production stage manager.
