Broadway to Dim Its Lights March 19 in Honor of Late Actress Natasha Richardson

The marquees of the Broadway theatres will be dimmed March 19 at 8 PM for one minute to pay tribute to the late actress Natasha Richardson, who died March 18 following a skiing accident in Montreal.

In a statement Charlotte St. Martin, executive director of The Broadway League, said, "The Broadway community is shocked and deeply saddened by the tragic loss of one of our finest young actresses, Natasha Richardson. Her theatrical lineage is legendary, but her own singular talent shined memorably on any stage she appeared. On Broadway, her brilliant performances in Cabaret (Tony Award-winning), Anna Christie (Tony Award -nominated), A Streetcar Named Desire and Closer demonstrated a pinnacle of excellence … both emotionally and intellectually … that electrified those fortunate enough to be sitting in the theatre and experiencing her magic. Our thoughts are with her family, friends, and audiences; we will miss her."

Ms. Richardson, who met husband Liam Neeson on Broadway in Anna Christie, earned a Tony Award for her performance as Sally Bowles in the Sam Mendes-Rob Marshall revival of Cabaret.
