Daisey to Offer Mysteries of the Unexplained: The Boardwalk! July 6 at Joe's Pub
By Andrew Gans
Extemporaneous monologist Mike Daisey will explore the mysteries of "The Boardwalk" in his July 6 performance at Joe's Pub. Daisey's evening, according to press notes, is described as such: "From the Jersey Shore to Coney Island, from shady carnies to youthful indiscretions, from the endless summer sun to the rides shutting down in the fall, we celebrate the boardwalk. If you play the game you get three chances: you could win sudden, heartstopping romance, or cotton candy in perfect blue and pink, or a terrible, nasty surprise. If you are having a very lucky night, you might find yourself a little of the lost magic of the boardwalk." Mike Daisey's monologues include How Theater Failed America, Invincible Summer, Monopoly!, Great Men of Genius, The Ugly American, I Miss the Cold War, Wasting Your Breath and Stories From the Atlantic Night Cafe. His first book was titled "21 Dog Years: A Cubedweller's Tale," and he is currently at work on his second tome, "Great Men of Genius." He resides in Brooklyn with his director and collaborator Jean-Michele Gregory. For more information visit www.mikedaisey.com. Daisey will present his latest monologue, The Last Cargo Cult, in December 2009 at the Public Theater. Joe's Pub is located within the Public Theater at 425 Lafayette Street.
