A Steady Rain Being Developed as Feature Film
By Adam Hetrick
Playwright Keith Huff is currently penning a screen adaptation of his Broadway-bound play A Steady Rain, which is set to begin performances at the Schoenfeld Theatre Sept. 10. The Broadway production of the two-character play will star Tony winner Hugh Jackman (Boy from Oz, "X-Men") and Daniel Craig ("Casino Royale," "Quantum of Solace"). Tony Award nominee John Crowley directs the limited 12-week Broadway engagement that officially opens Sept. 29 and will run through Dec. 6. A Steady Rain is part of Huff's trilogy about Chicago police officers that also includes The Detective's Wife and Tell Us of the Night. A Steady Rain, according to press notes for the Broadway run, "is a new American play that tells the story of two Chicago cops who are lifelong friends and their differing accounts of a few harrowing days that changed their lives forever." The highly anticipated drama, which has yet to begin ticket sales for the general public, already has an advance of $3 million solely from the American Express cardholders pre-sale. Tickets will go on sale to the general public July 25. Huff's plays also include Pursued by Happiness, Gray City and The Bird and Mr. Banks. |
