PHOTO CALL: Fela! Readies for Broadway

The cast and creators of Fela! gave the New York press a preview of the upcoming Broadway musical Sept. 23.
Bill T. Jones (Spring Awakening) directs and choreographs the production that will star Sahr Ngaujah and Kevin Mambo (alternating in the title role), Lillias White and Saycon Sengbloh.
Fela! — which uses Afrobeat legend Fela Anikulapo-Kuti's own music — features a book by Jones and Jim Lewis (who also provides additional lyrics).
The musical Fela!, according to production notes, "explores Kuti's controversial life as artist, political activist and revolutionary musician."
