Hear'say's Noel Sullivan to Make West End Debut in Grease
By Mark Shenton
Singer and actor Noel Sullivan, best known for his part in the record-breaking pop band Hear'say that was formed through the nationwide TV talent search "Popstars," will make his West End debut. Cardiff-born Sullivan has an extensive choral background, having toured as a soloist with the Black Mountain Male Chorus of Wales, including appearances throughout the U.S. As part of Hear'say, he became an overnight celebrity, sold millions of records, performed a 36-date sold-out nationwide arena tour, starred in the Royal Variety Performance, and achieved four Top 10 hits, before the group split in 2002. He has since returned to musical theatre, appearing in Fame (Edinburgh Playhouse), and U.K. tours of Love Shack, What a Feeling and Flashdance: the Musical, as well as appearing in Simply Ballroom at the Golden Nugget in Las Vegas. He has also appeared in the Channel 5 reality TV show "Trust Me I'm a Holiday Rep." In a press statement, Sullivan said, "I'm thrilled to be joining the cast of Grease and making my West End debut in such a legendary show. Danny is a fantastic role and I'm so excited to be part of such a feel-good, all time favorite musical - it's a dream come true." He is joined by Emma Stephens (whose previous credits include Starlight Express and Saturday Night Fever) as Sandy, with Stuart Ramsay as Kenickie, Natalie Langston as Rizzo, Michael Melmoe as Roger, Laura Wilson as Jan, Benjamin Ibbott as Doody, Faye Brookes as Frenchy, Bennett Andrews as Sonny, Robyn Mellor as Marty, Jamie Tyler as Eugene, Lizzi Franklin as Patty, Jason Capewell as Vince/Teen Angel, Marie Daly as Miss Lynch and Kristina Macmillan as Cha Cha, with other parts played by the ensemble.
