By Andrew Gans
November 20, 2009

An evening benefiting Kaufman Center's Theater Wing will be presented Nov. 22 at a brownstone in Manhattan's Upper West Side.

The 6:30 PM event will boast performances by Liz Callaway, Charles Strouse, Michael Winther, Benjamin Schrader, Gwen Hollander, Jason Robinson and Gabriella Stravelli.

The evening will also include appetizers, cocktails, dessert and a sing-along with the performers.

Proceeds will benefit Kaufman Center's Theater Wing, which "strives to integrate a love of musical theatre into the lives of both young and old with the following programs: Drama for Literacy, teaching NYC public school children to act, improvise, write plays and communicate expressively; Broadway Playhouse, featuring interactive, kid-friendly concerts in Merkin Hall exploring the works of musical theatre icons; Poppy Seed Players, performing original musicals with Jewish themes for family audiences in Merkin Hall; The Broadway Close Up series, in which stars of today pay tribute to legendary Broadway composers in Merkin Hall; [and] Summer Musical Theater Workshop — now celebrating its 20th year — which gives kids 6-15 a unique opportunity to work with a professional director/writer and musical director/composer to perform new musical plays written especially for them."

For tickets, priced $100, contact Gabrielle Markand at (212) 501-3350 or e-mail gmarkand@kaufman-center.org.
