NEWSical the Musical, with Pedi, Begins Previews Off-Broadway Nov. 24

NEWSical the Musical, which played 215 performances Off-Broadway in 2004, returns to the New York stage Nov. 24.

The Drama Desk-nominated musical, penned by composer-lyricist Rick Crom, plays The 47th Street Theatre; opening night is scheduled for Dec. 9.

Drama Desk nominee and Forbidden Broadway alum Christine Pedi stars. She is joined onstage by Christina Bianco, Michael West, Rory O'Malley, Amy Griffin and Tommy Walker.

The production is directed by Mark Waldrop. The creative team also includes Ed Goldschneider (music director), Shawn Boyle (lighting designer), Jason Courson (set designer), David Kally (costume designer) and Scott Delacruz (stage manager).

NEWSical the Musical, press notes state, "is an ever-evolving mockery of all the news that is fit to spoof!"

Producers are Tom D'Angora and Fred M. Caruso.

On Broadway Christine Pedi has been seen in Talk Radio and in the Martin Short revival of Little Me. She has performed in more than a dozen companies of Forbidden Broadway and earned Drama Desk and Ovation Award nominations for her work in Forbidden Hollywood. She was also seen Off-Broadway in A Broadway Diva Christmas.
