Martha Lavey Will Interview Joan Allen at Steppenwolf Benefit Event

Acclaimed actress Joan Allen, a Steppenwolf Theatre Company ensemble member, will be the inaugural honoree at "Steppenwolf Salutes Women in the Arts: an annual luncheon forum" on Feb. 23 at noon at the Chicago Cultural Center.

Allen, a founding member of the Steppenwolf Theatre Company since 1977, has performed in numerous productions including Cloud Nine, Of Mice and Men, Waiting for Lefty, Reckless, Love Letters and Say Goodnight, Gracie. Her Broadway credits include Impressionism, Burn This (Tony Award) and Heidi Chronicles (Tony nomination). Her Off-Broadway credits include The Marriage Of Bette and Boo; And A Nightingale Sang (Clarence Derwent, Drama Desk, Outer Critic's Circle and Theater World Awards); Heidi Chronicles (Playwrights Horizons). Her film credits include "Death Race, "Bonneville," "Bourne Ultimatum," "Yes," "The Upside Of Anger," "Off the Map," "Bourne Supremacy. "The Notebook," "The Contender" (Oscar, SAG, Independent Spirit, Golden Globe nominations – Best Actress); "Pleasantville"; "The Ice Storm"; "The Crucible" (Oscar, SAG, Golden Globe nominations, Best Supporting Actress); "Nixon" (Oscar, SAG nominations, Best Supporting Actress); "Searching For Bobby Fischer"; Ethan Frome"; "Tucker"; "Manhunter"; "Peggy Sue Got Married"; and "Compromising Positions."
Her TV movie credits include "Georgia O'Keefe" for Lifetime Television co-starring Jeremy Irons (Golden Globe nomination).
