Anderson, Hernandez, Denman, Sessions and More Will Join Steggert in Yank!

Complete casting has been announced for the York Theatre Company's upcoming production of the new musical Yank!, which will begin previews at the Off-Broadway venue Feb. 16 with an official opening Feb. 24.

As previously announced, Bobby Steggert, recently on Broadway in the revival of Ragtime, will head the cast as Stu. He will be joined onstage by Nancy Anderson (Wonderful Town, A Class Act), Jeffry Denman (White Christmas, The Producers), Ivan Hernandez (Romantic Poetry, The Fantasticks), Andrew Durand (Spring Awakening), Zak Edwards (Encores! No No Nanette), Todd Faulkner (PBS’ “Wordscape”), Denis Lambert (A Chorus Line), Joseph Medeiros (Guys and Dolls, Grease), David Perlman (Calvin Berger at Barrington Stage), Christopher Ruth (Happy Days at Paper Mill/Goodspeed) and Tally Sessions (South Pacific).

Igor Goldin will direct. The production, which runs through March 21, will also feature music direction by John Baxindine and choreography by Jeffry Denman.

Yank! The New Musical has music by Joseph Zellnik with book and lyrics by David Zellnik. The musical, according to the York, "tells the story of Stu, a scared Midwestern kid who gets drafted for World War II in 1943, and becomes a photographer for Yank Magazine, the journal 'for and by the servicemen.' Yank! has a score that pays homage to the 1940s and explores what it means to be a man, and what it is to fall in love and struggle."

The production will also boast set design by Ray Klausen, costume design by Tricia Barsamian and lighting design by Ken Lapham.

The musical is produced by arrangement with Maren Berthelsen, Pamela Koslow, Stuart Wilk, Matt Schicker, Hugh Hayes and Jim Kierstead.
