Looped Will Play Its Final Fadeout April 11
By Kenneth Jones
Looped, the new Broadway comedy starring Valerie Harper as a late-career Tallulah Bankhead, will close April 11 after 27 previews and 25 regular performances at the Lyceum Theatre.
Looped tells the story of boozy Tallulah Bankhead, the internationally celebrated actress, being called into a sound studio in 1965 to re-record (or "loop") one line of dialogue for what would be her last film. She spars with an uptight film editor (Brian Hutchison), revealing details about both of their lives. Michael Mulheren plays a sound engineer.
The show is produced by Tony Cacciotti, Chase Mishkin and Leonard Soloway.
The creative team for Looped includes set designer Adrian W. Jones, costume designer William Ivey Long, wig designer Charles LaPointe, lighting designer Ken Billington and sound designers Michael Hooker/Peter Fitzgerald.
Looped plays Tuesday at 7, Wednesday-Friday at 8 PM, Wednesday at 2 PM, Saturday at 2 & 8 PM, and Sunday at 3 PM. Tickets are available through www.telecharge.com, or by calling (212) 239-6200.
