PHOTO CALL: Victor Garber, Kelli O'Hara, Christopher Fitzgerald, Ben Davis and More Sing Knickerbocker Holiday
By Matthew Blank
Victor Garber, Kelli O'Hara, Christopher Fitzgerald, Bryce Pinkham, Ben Davis and more star in the Collegiate Chorale's concert presentation of Kurt Weill's Knickerbocker Holiday.
Bradley Cooper, David Hyde Pierce, Georgia Engel and Renée Zellweger were among those in attendance at the Jan. 25 first performance of the show, which will receive a second performance Jan. 26 at 8 PM.
Kurt Weill and Maxwell Anderson teamed up for the first time to create this romantic comedy. First performed in 1938 with Walter Huston in the role of Peter Stuyvesant, the "work is one of Weill’s deft hybrid theatre pieces which lies somewhere between operetta and musical theatre, and also contains bits of political satire," according to production notes.
Here is a look at the performance and backstage:
The cast includes Victor Garber as Stuyvesant, Ben Davis as Brom, Bryce Pinkham as Washington Irving, David Garrison as Tienhoven, Kelli O’Hara as love interest Tina and Christopher Fitzgerald as faithful sidekick Tenpin.
Ted Sperling directs; James Bagwell conducts the orchestra. The show's original orchestrations are employed. Read Playbill.com's special feature about the concert.
Single tickets start at $25 and are available online at www.collegiatechorale.org or by phone at (646) 202-9623.
