NYC Return of Rent Will Star Annaleigh Ashford, Adam Chanler-Berat, Arianda Fernandez

Adam Chanler-Berat, late of Next to Normal and Peter and the Starcatcher, will play documentary filmmaker Mark Cohen in the Off-Broadway relaunch of the rock musical Rent, producers announced on June 8.
The Pulitzer Prize-winning, Tony Award-honored 1996 musical by the late Jonathan Larson began Off-Broadway before moving to Broadway and international fame. Original director Michael Greif will again direct. The revival begins an open-ended run July 14 (opening Aug. 11) at New World Stages in midtown Manhattan.
As previously reported, Greif's creative team includes choreographer Larry Keigwin; music supervisor Tim Weil; set designer Mark Wendland; costume designer Angela Wendt; lighting designer Kevin Adams; sound designer Brian Ronan; and projection designer by Peter Nigrini. New World Stages is at 340 W. 50th Street, between Eighth and Ninth Avenues. Rent will perform Mondays and Wednesday through Saturdays at 8 PM, Sundays at 7:30 PM, with Saturday and Sunday matinees at 2 PM. Preview prices are $65-$85; prices after Aug. 12 are $69.50-$89.50.
