Lin-Manuel Miranda, Karine Plantadit to Perform at Bright Lights! Shining Stars! Benefit

The New York City Dance Alliance Foundation will present its annual benefit performance of Bright Lights! Shining Stars! Aug. 1 at the Jack H. Skirball Center for the Performing Arts.



Joe Lanteri directs the gala event that will honor Grammy Award-winning singer Roberta Flack with the NYCDAF's First Ambassador for the Arts Award.

The evening will be a "celebration of the eclectic nature of song and dance" and feature performances from the cast of Billy Elliot, Lin-Manuel Miranda with former In the Heights cast members, Desmond Richardson (Fosse, Movin' Out), former Alvin Ailey dancer Clifton Brown and Karine Plantadit (Come Fly Away, Movin' Out).

A private college scholarship audition will be held in conjunction with the event July 31, and $50,000 in college scholarships will be awarded at the Bright Lights! Shining Stars! gala. The evening also includes celebrity appearances and a red-carpet cocktail reception and after-party.
