The Off-Broadway production of Rent at New World Stages welcomes Emma Hunton as performance artist Maureen starting Jan. 13.

Hunton, once of Broadway's Spring Awakening and Next to Normal, succeeds Annaleigh Ashford in the new production of Jonathan Larson's Pulitzer Prize-honored, Tony Award-winning musical inspired by the opera La Boheme.

Aaron Lavigne joined the troupe, playing Mr. Grey and Others, on Jan. 7. Starting Jan. 20, Justin Johnston (a former Angel in the show's Broadway run) will play Roger, succeeding Matt Shingledecker, and Josh Grisetti (acclaimed for Off-Broadway's Enter Laughing) will succeed Adam Chanler-Berat as Mark.

Following a long Broadway run, the original producers of Rent mounted the current production Off-Broadway. It includes physical and directorial reconsiderations by its original director Michael Greif.

New World Stages is located at 340 W. 50th St., between 8th and 9th Avenues at World Wide Plaza. For tickets and information, visit siteforrent.com.
