PHOTO CALL: Mandy Gonzalez, Gavin Creel and More Join Lin-Manuel Miranda for The Hamilton Mixtape
By Krissie Fullerton
The 14th season of Lincoln Center’s American Songbook series in the Allen Room of Jazz at Lincoln Center kicked off Jan. 11 with Tony-winning In the Heights creator Lin-Manuel Miranda. Miranda offered a sneak preview of new songs from a work-in-progress: The Hamilton Mixtape, a hip-hop song cycle about the life and death of American founding father Alexander Hamilton. Miranda first performed part of The Hamilton Mixtape for President Obama at the White House; this one-night-only performance took place on what would have been Hamilton’s 255th birthday. The 8:30 PM concert also featured the talents of Utkarsh Ambudkar, Gavin Creel, James Monroe Iglehart, Christopher Jackson, Moeisha Mcgill, Mandy Gonzalez, Rebecca Naomi Jones, Jon Rua and Chris "Shockwave" Sullivan. Here's a look at the concert:
