Rock of Ages Will Welcome Justin Matthew Sargent; Mitchell Jarvis Will Not Return
By Andrew Gans
Justin Matthew Sargent will step into the role of Drew in the Tony-nominated musical Rock of Ages March 26 at Broadway’s Helen Hayes Theatre. He succeeds Dan Domenech, who will play his final performance in that part March 25.
It was also announced that Genson Blimline has officially taken over as Lonny. Mitchell Jarvis, who created that role, will not return to the production following his leave of absence.
In other Rock news, Neka Zang will replace Emily Williams in the ensemble April 3.
Justin Matthew Sargent recently performed on Broadway in Bonnie & Clyde. Genson Blimline was in the original cast of Rodgers and Hammerstein's South Pacific at LCT. Neka Zang, who will make her Broadway debut in Rock of Ages, has been seen in the national tours of Wicked and Mary Poppins.
The musical comedy Rock of Ages borrows rock hits of the 1980s to tell the story of showbiz lovers in L.A. The score includes "Every Rose Has Its Thorn," "I Wanna Know What Love Is," "Here I Go Again," "Don't Stop Believin'" and more.
Rock of Ages is written by Chris D'Arienzo, directed by Kristin Hanggi and choreographed by Kelly Devine.
Rock of Ages is produced on Broadway and world-wide by Matthew Weaver, Carl Levin, Jeff Davis, Barry Habib, Scott Prisand, Michael Cohl, Reagan Silber, and Relativity Media.
