PHOTO SPECIAL: The Evita Files — Loni Ackerman
By Matthew Blank
With the arrival of the Broadway revival of Tim Rice and Andrew Lloyd Webber’s Evita, which is currently in previews at the Marquis Theatre, we thought it would be a great time to look back at some of the stellar women who played the title role in the original Broadway production.
We continue our Evita Files series with Loni Ackerman, who was the third actress to play the role of Eva Peron on Broadway. Ackerman's New York stint followed a record-breaking two-year run in the Los Angeles production of Evita. She went on to play Grizabella in another Lloyd Webber musical, the Tony-winning Cats. Read more about Loni Ackerman's career in the Playbill Vault.
The current Broadway revival features Olivier Award winner Elena Roger in her Broadway debut as Eva Perón, Grammy winner Ricky Martin as Che, Tony Award winner Michael Cerveris as Juan Perón, Max von Essen as Magaldi and Rachel Potter as the Mistress.
