Jonathan Groff, Constantine Maroulis, Megan Hilty and More Are Miscast March 26 in NYC
By Adam Hetrick
MCC Theater's Miscast gala, featuring Jonathan Groff, Constantine Maroulis, Megan Hilty and Jan Maxwell, is held March 26 at the Hammerstein Ballroom.
The annual benefit brings together Broadway stars to perform songs from shows and roles in which they'd never be cast.
The 6:30 PM evening, hosted by Lewis Black, also honors the authors of the musical Carrie —Academy Award-winning composer Michael Gore, Academy Award-winning lyricist Dean Pitchford and screenwriter Lawrence D. Cohen — for their "bold, daring, risk-taking spirit."
In addition to Groff ("Glee," Spring Awakening), Maroulis (Rock of Ages, Jekyll & Hyde), Hilty ("Smash," 9 to 5) and Maxwell (Follies, The Royal Family), the benefit features Nikki M. James (The Book of Mormon), Josh Gad ("Modern Family," The Book of Mormon), Norm Lewis (Porgy and Bess), Rory O'Malley (The Book of Mormon) and Nicole Parker ("MadTV," Wicked).
Gala tickets begin at $500, with mezzanine level show-only tickets available for $79 (general admission) and $99 (reserved seating). The Hammerstein Ballroom is located at 311 W. 34th Street.
