Pioneer Theatre's Man of La Mancha to Star William Michals, Maria Eberline and Daniel Marcus

William Michals, Maria Eberline and Daniel Marcus will tilt at windmills in the Pioneer Theatre production of the Tony Award-winning musical Man of La Mancha, beginning May 4 in Salt Lake City.



Based on the Miguel de Cervantes novel, Man of La Mancha features music by Mitch Leigh, lyrics by Joe Darion and book by Dale Wasserman. Performances will run through May 19 in Salt Lake City, UT.

Artistic director Charles Morey directs Man of La Mancha, which features Michals (South Pacific, Beauty and the Beast) as Don Quixote, Eberline (Wicked, Evita) as Aldonza and Marcus (1776, Woman in White) as Sancho Panza.

The cast also features Dirk Lumbard (A Chorus Line) as the Padre, Gerritt Vendermeer (The Music Man) as Dr. Carrasco, Steven Fehr as the Barber, Enrique Acevedo as the Head Muleteer, Tony Guerrero as Anselmo, Neva Rae Powers as the Housekeeper, Christine Moore as Fermina, Nicholas Ward as Tenorio, Michelle Blake as the Inkeeper's Wife and Jessica Kennedy as Antonia.

The ensemble includes David Marmanillo, Justin Ivie, Paul Kiernan, Daniel T. Simons, Eric Lee Brotherson, Jeffry Skiba, Sara Kae Childs, Preston Yates and Matthew Jay Romriell.

La Mancha has choreography by Jayne Luke, scenic design by George Maxwell, costume design by Carol Wells-Day and lighting design by Phil Monat.

The popular musical following the lofty escapades of Don Quixote and his pal Sancho includes the songs "Dulcinea," "The Impossible Dream," "What Does He Want of Me," "I'm Only Thinking of Him" and "To Each His Dulcinea."
