By Andrew Gans
Irish Repertory Theatre's 2012 Annual Benefit Gala, a concert performance of Lionel Bart's Oliver!, will be presented June 11 at 7 PM at Broadway's Shubert Theatre.
Directed by Charlotte Moore with musical direction by Mark Hartman, the cast will boast Tony winner Brian Stokes Mitchell as Fagin, James Barbour as Bill Sykes and Melissa Errico as Nancy.
Additional casting will be announced at a later time.
In Oliver!, according to Irish Rep, "an innocent orphan boy escapes the cruel workhouse and joins a gang of roving pickpocket street urchins who report to the cunning master pickpocket himself, the wily Fagin, who rules the filthy streets under London Bridge with a slippery hand. Nancy, the beautiful graduate of Fagin's 'Academy,' and her lover, Bill Sykes, an iconic villain in his prime, fight over the boy, with awful consequences."
Song titles include "Food, Glorious Food," "As Long As He Needs Me," "Consider Yourself at Home" and "I'd Do Anything for You."
The gala concert will be followed by dinner at Sardi's.
The Shubert Theatre is located at 225 West 44th Street. For dinner and performance packages, contact Gretchen H. Page at (212) 255-0270 or email firstname.lastname@example.org.
