PHOTO EXCLUSIVE: A Mother's Two-Show Day With Priscilla Queen of the Desert's Ellyn Marie Marsh
By Matthew Blank
In honor of Mother's Day (May 13), Playbill.com offers a two-show day with one of the hard-working mommys currently performing on Broadway. Spend a day at work and play with Priscilla Queen of the Desert's Ellyn Marie Marsh, who balances the rigorous show schedule with her duties as mother to 3-year-old Lola. Marsh offers readers an extensive glimpse at her day, beginning promptly at 7:30 AM in order to maximize mother-daughter time before heading off to the Palace Theatre for a two-performance Sunday. See how the family fits playtime, breakfast, band practice and a trip to the street fair into just a few short hours... then accompany Marsh to work and meet the guys and gals (and other) who inhabit the world of Priscilla.
Priscilla Queen of the Desert is written by Stephan Elliott and Allan Scott and directed by Simon Phillips. The score features existing dance-floor favorites. Olivier Award nominee Tony Sheldon (as Bernadette), Hair Tony Award nominee Will Swenson (as Tick/Mitzi) and La Cage aux Folles actor Nick Adams (as Adam/Felicia) star as "the trio of friends on a heart-warming, uplifting adventure. [They] hop aboard a battered old bus searching for love and friendship in the middle of the Australian outback and end up finding more than they could ever have dreamed." Priscilla Queen of the Desert won a Tony Award for Costume Design. Tony Sheldon was nominated for Performance by an Actor in a Leading Role in a Musical.
