The 66th Annual Tony Awards, which aired June 10 on CBS, drew 6.01 million viewers, according to preliminary numbers released by TVbytheumbersZap2It.com.

The annual celebration of the Broadway theatre garnered a 1.0 adults 18-49 rating; that rating is a decrease of 17%  (from a 1.2) from last year and makes the program the lowest-rated Tony telecast ever.

The 2011 Tony Awards had an average viewership of 6.950 million.

ABC, which aired "Secret Millionaire" and "Extreme Makeover: Weight Loss Edition," won the night in adults ages 18-49. Despite the low Tony Awards rating, CBS won the evening in total viewers.

"Due to the nature of live programming the ratings for CBS (The Tony Awards) are approximate and subject to more than the typical adjustments in the final numbers," according to TVbythenumbers.

Neil Patrick Harris hosted the annual Tony ceremony, which was broadcast live from the Beacon Theatre.
