Tony Award winner Michael Rupert stars in Jim Henry's new dramatic mystery 7th Monarch, which begins a limited Off-Broadway run June 12 at the Acorn Theatre.

Scott C. Embler (Bloodties, Stain) directs the production that officially opens June 24 for a run through Sept. 9. It is produced by the Somerled Charitable Foundation.

Rupert (Legally Blonde, Sweet Charity) is joined by Michael Cullen (Bug), Gretchen Hall (Stick Fly), Leslie Hendrix ("Law & Order") and Matthew Humphreys (The Vertical Hour).

Here's how the play is characterized: "Miriam Hemmerick, a mathematical genius who was on the fast track to becoming an astronaut, has been living in seclusion with her parents for the past 20 years after dropping out of college. Raina, a social worker, investigates a potential crime involving Miriam's mother and father, but the parents themselves are nowhere to be found. The mysteries start there, and dark personal secrets about these two women are soon revealed."

7th Monarch has scenic design by Shoko Kambara, costume design by D.W. Withrow, lighting design by D.M. Wood and sound design by David Pinkard.
