Patti's Turn at 54 Below Gets Added Week; LuPone Extends to June 23
By Kenneth Jones
Patti LuPone's intimate new club act, Far Away Places, at the new theatre-district nightspot 54 Below, will get an extra week, now to June 23, the operators of the venue announced on June 17. Andrea Martin, who was to perform next at the cabaret underneath Studio 54, is sidelined by illness.
Tony Award winner LuPone's additional dates (following her well-reviewed two-week gig there, June 5-16) are June 19-23. There will be a special late-night performance on Thursday, June 21 at 11 PM. LuPone is backed by a five-piece band.
The owners of 54 Below announced on June 17, "Andrea Martin has had to postpone her appearance at 54 Below because she is ill with a stubborn bronchial infection. We look forward to rescheduling her performance at the earliest possible opportunity. Patti LuPone has graciously agreed to change her schedule so as to continue her engagement at 54 Below for another week…"
LuPone's 54 Below engagement is conceived and directed by the venue's Tony Award-winning creative consultant, Scott Wittman, with arrangements by Joseph Thalken. LuPone is the Tony-winning actress known for creating Eva Peron in the original Broadway production of Evita, and for her work in the recent revivals of Sweeney Todd and Gypsy, among many other stage and screen roles.
LuPone's additional performances are June 19-20 at 8 PM, June 21 at 11 PM, June 22-23 at 8 PM and 11 PM. For tickets and information, visit 54Below.com.
54 Below is located at 254 W. 54th Street.
