John Pollono's Small Engine Repair, With "Walking Dead" Star, Completes MCC Theater's 2012-13 Season
By Adam Hetrick
MCC Theater will stage the New York premiere of playwright-actor John Pollono's Small Engine Repair as the third and final title of its 2012-13 season.
Jo Bonney (The Break of Noon, Some Girl(s), Fat Pig) will stage the Off-Broadway production that will run May 16-June 23, 2013, at the Lucille Lortel Theatre. Pollono will co-star with Jon Bernthal ("The Walking Dead") in the production.
Small Engine Repair premiered at Los Angeles' Rogue Machine Theatre in 2011, earning the Los Angeles Drama Critics Award for Playwriting.
Here's how it's billed: "Frank, Swaino and Packie - buddies since high school, now past their prime - meet off-hours in Frank's out-of-the-way repair shop under cloudy circumstances that only Frank has a handle on. Enter Chad, a plugged-in preppy college jock, whose arrival ignites an explosion of long-simmering resentment and rage in this taut, twisty, comic thriller."
Small Engine Repair joins the previously announced productions of Paul Downs Colaizzo's Really Really and Stephen Belber's Don't Go Gentle.
