Boy from New York City, a new jukebox musical by Tony-nominated Million Dollar Quartet and Baby It's You creator Floyd Mutrux will debut in September at West Hollywood's Coast Playhouse.
Mutrux will author the book and direct the musical that will begin performances Sept. 20 for an eight-week run. Birgitte Mutrux (Baby It's You!) will choreograph.

Boy from New York City, according to press notes, "tells the story of the king and queen of New York rock 'n' roll from 1955-1965 – George Goldner, the most characteristic figure in the Golden Era of street corner do-wop and his great love affair with a Puerto Rican dancer named Reina, whom he met when she was a hat check girl at the Palladium."
The score will include such songs as "Why Do Fools Fall in Love," "Tears on My Pillow," "Barbara Ann," "Little Darlin," "Save the Last Dance for Me," "Good Golly Miss Molly," "It's All in the Game of Love" and more.
Boy from New York City is produced by American Pop Anthology (Floyd Mutrux & Birgitte Mutrux) in association with Scott Prisand and executive producer Bruce Bendell. Joel Scott (Baby It's You!) is musical director.
Complete casting, creative team members and ticket information will be announced shortly.
No future plans for Boy from New York City have been announced. Mutrux's Baby It's You! also premiered in California prior to a short-lived Broadway run. Millon Dollar Quartet originated in Chicago, before its two-year New York engagement.
