THE SCREENING ROOM: Will Chase Performs From Rent, High Fidelity, "Smash" and More (Video)

Broadway actor Will Chase, who was seen in the first season of NBC's "Smash," is keeping busy. Before he stars in Roundabout Theatre Company's The Mystery of Edwin Drood, Chase will assume the role of Jimmy Winter in Nice Work If You Can Get It while Matthew Broderick is on vacation. Here is a look at the performer on stage and screen.
Chase, who will step into Broadway's Nice Work Aug. 21-26, has also been seen on Broadway in The Story of My Life, Billy Elliot: The Musical, High Fidelity, Lennon, The Full Monty, Aida, Rent and Miss Saigon. On "Smash," he played the role of actor Michael Swift.
Over the course of Rent's Broadway run, Chase was seen in multiple roles, closing the show as leading man Roger Davis. Here is his performance of "Glory" from "Rent: Filmed Live on Broadway."
Here, Chase was seen singing the role of Mark for a performance of "What You Own" at a benefit concert in the Philippines.
At a Birdland concert, Chase is joined by Eden Espinosa — who was also part of Rent's closing company — for a performance of Scott Alan's "Surrender."
Chase, who created the role of Rob in High Fidelity, sings "Desert Island Top 5 Break-Ups" and "Laura, Laura" from that musical at a Barnes and Noble CD signing.
At Joe's Pub, Chase is joined by Steven Pasquale for "Lily's Eyes" from The Secret Garden.
In Chase's first "Smash" appearance, he covered the Bruno Mars song "Grenade."
He also sang alongside Megan Hilty for "Mr. and Mrs. Smith."
Here, Chase sings "The Butterfly" from the 2009 musical The Story of My Life, in which he played the role of Thomas Weaver.
Chase also recently appeared in the Encores! production of Pipe Dream. Here are highlights from the production.
