Tony Award nominee Bobby Cannavale will star in the Williamstown Theatre Festival production of Dustin Lance Black's acclaimed gay marriage drama 8, which features performers from the festival's starry summer productions, Aug. 6 on the Main Stage.
The 7:30 PM peformance will be directed by Matt McGrath.
Cannavale (The Mother****** with the Hat) joins a cast that also features Chris Bannow (The Elephant Man), Harry Ford (A Month in the Country), Kate Hamilton (Far From Heaven), Curt Hansen (Next to Normal), Sarah LaDuke ("The Roundtable"), Thomas McCarthy (La Ronde), Kevin O'Rourke ("Boardwalk Empire"), Crystal Lucas Perry (Far From Heaven), Ariana Seigel (The Importance of Being Earnest), Linda White and Chris Wood (Spring Awakening).
A talkback will follow the performance.
Academy Award-winning "Milk" screenwriter Black authored the play that utilizes the original transcripts from the 2010 Perry v. Schwarzenegger case, which sought to overturn the 2008 voter-approved Prop. 8 legislation that denied same-sex couples the right to marry. The trial ultimately led to a California federal judge's ruling that Prop. 8 was unconstitutional and unfairly discriminated against homosexuals.
