John Stamos Will Take Part in Best Man Talkback for A Night on Broadway! Fundraiser
By Michael Gioia
John Stamos, national spokesman of the nonprofit organization Project Cuddle, will take part in a post-performance Q&A following the Sept. 7 performance of Gore Vidal's The Best Man as part of Project Cuddle's fifth annual A Night on Broadway! fundraiser.
Tickets for the 8 PM performance at the Gerald Schoenfeld Theatre are limited and must be purchased before Aug. 14. All proceeds from the evening, hosted by Lauren and Brad Egna, benefit Project Cuddle in its fight to stop baby abandonment.
Gore Vidal's The Best Man also stars James Earl Jones, John Larroquette, Cybill Shepherd, Kristin Davis, Jefferson Mays, Mark Blum and Elizabeth Ashley.
Rounding out the cast are Curtis Billings, Corey Brill, Tony Carlin, Donna Hanover, Sherman Howard, Olja Hrustic, Bill Kux, James Lecesne, Dakin Matthews, Angelica Page, Fred Parker, Jr. and Amy Tribbey.
The production, which received 2012 Tony Award nominations for Best Revival of a Play and Best Performance by an Actor in a Leading Role (Jones), plays an extended engagement through Sept. 9. The Best Man is directed by Drama Desk Award winner Michael Wilson.
The 1960 play "is set at the national convention where two candidates are vying for their party's nomination during the primary season." Expect "an inside look at the dirt-digging, double-dealing, triple-crossing chicanery of presidential electioneering and what could be more fun in a presidential campaign season than these theatrical fireworks."
The Gerald Schoenfeld Theatre is located at 236 West 45th Street. For tickets, call (714) 432-9681 or email firstname.lastname@example.org. For more information visit ProjectCuddle.org or TheBestManOnBroadway.com.
