The world-premiere production of Sam Shepard's Heartless, at Signature Theatre Company, began previews Aug. 7. The production features Lois Smith, Gary Cole and More.
In addition to Cole ("Office Space" and "The West Wing") and Smith (The Illusion, Buried Child) the staging features Jenny Bacon (In the Wake), Betty Gilpin (We Live Here), and Julianne Nicholson ("Boardwalk Empire," This. In the play, according to Signature notes, "Sally [played by Nicholson] lives with her mysterious family in a cavernous home overlooking Los Angeles. When a visitor arrives, Sally's dark secrets — and the secrets of those around her — threaten to come into the light."
