Broadway's Rock of Ages Will Offer Military Tribute Night, Featuring Meet-and-Greet, After Party and Grand Prize
By Michael Gioia
The Tony Award-nominated Broadway musical Rock of Ages, along with The Boot Campaign — a Texas-based non-profit organization that promotes patriotism and awareness of current U.S. Armed Forces and veterans' issues — will host a Military Tribute Night Oct. 2 at the Helen Hayes Theatre.
The Boot Campaign, with sponsor Benchmark Mortgage, has offered 100 free Rock of Ages tickets to active-duty, retired and veteran members of the U.S. Military. Tribute night will include a meet-and-greet with the cast and an after party at the B.B. King Blues Club and Grill (237 West 42 Street).
Additionally, one veteran in attendance will receive a mortgage-free home. The winner will be announced on stage immediately following the performance. Nominations for the deserving military guests are accepted at BootsRock.com.
Tickets to the Military Tribute Night performance are available at Telecharge.com. All ticket holders will receive complimentary entrance to the post-show party at B.B. King Blues Club and Grill.
The Boot Campaign and Rock of Ages first joined forces this summer for a photo shoot with the cast in full costume and military boots, which can be found at BootCampaign.com.
Rock of Ages premiered Off-Broadway at New World Stages in October 2008 and transferred to the Brooks Atkinson Theatre on Broadway in March 2009. Rock of Ages earned five Tony nominations including Best Musical, Best Direction and Best Actor. The production is currently playing at the Helen Hayes Theatre at 240 W. 44th Street.
